Will Robby Gordon Make it Three in a Row at the Best in the Desert Canidae Tap It Silver State “300” May 4-6, 2012? Print E-mail

April 27, 2012

Casey Folks announced today that he expects more than 200 racers to challenge the Canidae Tap It Silver State “300” course. Robby Gordon appears to have the US desert courses dialed in, having grabbed wins at Parker and the Mint, the first two Best in the Desert Events of 2012. But he’s going to have some fast company trying to grab the top podium finish from him. Here’s the breakdown: Two of the fastest classes have nearly 50 entries: there are Twenty-Four Class 1400 600+ Horsepower Trick Trucks, and Twenty-Four Class 1500 Unlimiteds.   Watch out Robby - some very fast and professional racers are chasing you down!  The Time Trials, set for Thursday May 3rd, will certainly impact how this race unwinds.

Who’s racing? Only the fastest, most prestigious list of racing names in off-road competition - that’s who!  Trick Truck features racers like Baldwin, Nunley, Lopez, Householder, Olliges, Swift, Croll, Voss, Whitton, Staats, Pierce, Nuckles, Horvath, Sourapas, MacCachren, Johnson, Zaiden, Whelchel, Weyhrich, and Canidae’s Whipple. In the 1500 class, look for Gordon, Jacobs, Hovey, Davis, Keysar, Baldi, Berri, Jergensen, Griffith, Boyle, Childress, Bilek, Reid, Letner, Freitas, Dean, Flores, Lofton, Walker, Curtis, Langley, Chase, Bask, Graf, and the list goes on! The leading racers in the world of off-road racing run with Best in the Desert!

Folks was quoted, “There is simply no race like a Best in the Desert event. At last year’s Silver State “300” only two minutes separated the winner and 2nd place; and just 7 minutes was the gap between the top 5 finishers.  With this many extremely fast and professional racers signed up - the 2012 Canidae Tap It Silver State “300”  will be another one for the record books. Plus with a high temperature of 75 degrees and sunny predicted for race day - it’s going to be a great race!”

Registration, Tech Inspection and Contingency will be held on Friday, May 4th, at Aliante Station, and the race will take place on Saturday, May 5th. Best in the Desert again worked closely with the Bureau of Land Management to develop a course with minimal impact, and in fact, has moved the start and finish lines for this year’s event to avoid any potential issue with desert tortoise. The start line is 15 miles north of Alamo and the finish line will be north of the Alamo area. The race is a one approximate 300-mile loop.

Best In The Desert is also fortunate to have some of the best companies in the off-road world as our sponsors.  I’d like to thank Ford Motor Company, General Tire, VP Racing Fuels, Lucas Oil, KC HiLites, FabTech, John Deere, Beta Motorcycles, McKenzies, Azunia Tequila, PCI Race Radios, Bullet Liner, Sportsman Cycle Sales.  Also, a special thank you to our Title Sponsor, Canidae Natural Pet Food and Tap It Brewing Company. A special thank you to Scott Whipple and his great team of people for their continued support of off-road desert racing!

Las Vegas, Nevada, January 17, 2012

Best In The Desert, the premier American Off-Road Racing Series, is excited to present next month’s Blue Water Resort & Casino “PARKER 425”, February 3rd thru 5th in Parker, Arizona. “The Legend Lives On” at this opening round for Best In The Desert’s car and truck classes. This race has a great and storied history including attracting huge race entries, and if the 700 people that showed up January 8th to take part in the “pre fun run” is any indication, the 2012 edition could very well turn out to be one of the biggest yet.

The festive weekend gets underway on Thursday, February 3rd with the Time Trials for the combined field of Class 1500 open class buggies and Trick Trucks to see who will walk away with the coveted Team Ford “Pole Award” and the $1,000 cash that goes along with it.
