Mint Press Release - 2014 date change due to Programmatic Biological Opinion (PBO) by order of the BLM
Biological Opinion - BLM BO document.
“The biological assessment that was just conducted, lists the Mohave Desert Tortoise as an endangered species in the area where we race," said Mint 400 CEO Matt Martelli. “We’ve been told to move our event back by a week to help ensure the safety of these animals, and we’re happy to do so. The off-road community is committed to preserving and managing our wildlife areas, so that future generations can continue to race in the desert. The BLM has gone to great lengths to help us conduct The Mint 400 race each year, and we appreciate their support.”
The 2014 Mint 400 returns to Las Vegas on March14, 15, 16, 2014. More information will be posted late 2013.

Note from the Tech Team - Have a fire extinguisher readily available in your pit! As some of you know and some did not. The Best In The Desert car and truck technical team was in the main pit area for the parker 425 conducting spot inspections of the pit area. They found a number of race teams not in compliance with the rules. Some of the infractions that were found were, not all hose delivered fueling systems were not using the required spring loaded man operated ball valves on the delivery hose. Two ( 2) 10 lb fire extinguishers were in line with the fuel and readily available in case of a fire. These were only the most dangerous items that were seen. A lot of the teams had various safety hazards that need to be addressed. The technical team will be inspecting pit areas again at the MINT 400. We ask you to make the changes that need attention for your area. We ask that team owners, team managers and team pit captains make sure that safety in all of your pit areas are paramount. Thank you, Best In The Desert Car and Truck Technical Team
